Last weekend I had the pleasure to try out the menu at the new Bibibop Asian Grill located on Beverly Blvd. I live in Koreatown and I’m a huge fan of Korean food so I know it’s safe to say that the cuisine isn’t always the healthiest. Much like Chipotle, you build your own bowl at Bibibop with whatever healthy ingredients and flavors your heart desires! The ordering process is super simple. You pick your base (white rice, black rice, yam noodles, or salad), proteins (spicy or regular chicken, tofu, and steak, which I imagine to be similar to bulgogi), vegetables, salad toppings, and sauces. Every meal comes with a free side of miso soup as well. YESSSSS!!!!
Aylmer ordered the black rice with steak. He topped it off with tons of carrots, cucumbers, kale, kimchi, and the Korean red sauce for extra flavor. The Korean red sauce kinda reminds me of gochujang sauce with a slightly spicy kick. I’m also happy that they serve black rice as an option because it’s sooo nutritiously beneficial being packed with tons of fiber and antioxidants.
As for my bowl, I opted for the yam noodles with half spicy chicken and half tofu. All their proteins were packed with so much flavor, it was so hard to pick just one. I love my bowls a little more festive in comparison to my boyfriend so I topped mine off with corn, kale, daikon, cucumber, carrots, red cabbage, and cheese. For sauce, I went for the Yum Yum sauce which is very tangy and tart. It’s vegetarian friendly and gluten free as well! Both of us also got extra sides of kimchi (because you can never get enough) and pineapple.
If you’re ever in the area and in need of a Korean food fix, I definitely do recommend giving Bibibop a try. Unlike other Korean restaurants in LA, you’ll definitely keep things light and healthy here.
