I adored Pocahontas as a kid. Correction, obsession was more like it. I relished in all that was “her” and her movie. The songs, the storyline, even the creepy willow tree that probably resembled something out of a nightmare (still not too sure what the illustrators were trying to go for). I loved it all! But more than the movie itself, I probably loved her outfit a little more. Everything from the sleek black hair, the fringe details in her dress, the turquoise accessories. My love for texture was set off instantaneously. Jacket Thrifted/Dress H&M/Shoes Alexander Wang/Bag Aldo
So I suppose this is my tribute to her. If Pocahontas somehow ended up in the new millennium and decided to stick it out living the city life, this would be her “hey girls, let’s go out for cocktails” weekend warrior outfit. Chiffon, fur, and fringe. Western, yet classy; definitely a more modernized version at best.
Ps. I scored this asymmetrical dress for only $14 at H&M. I’m still crying tears of joy til this day.
